LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY OVERVIEW

The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system of the body.  The heart pumps the blood to the body through arteries, and the veins and lymph system return it to the heart.  The interstitial fluid immerses the cells and receives by-products of cell metabolism.  This fluid originates in connective tissue spaces and the lymph capillaries pick it up, at which point it is called lymph.  The lymph system is very important for the body because it recovers the protein rich liquid that the veins can’t pick up.  If it weren’t for the lymphatic system, the body would probably die within a couple of days from self-intoxication.

Bruno Chikly, M.D. developed a method to work gently with the rhythm of the lymph system, which is slower than the blood circulation with low velocity and low pressure.  By working with the lymph system, fluids are better circulated and the parasympathetic nervous system is enhanced, thus offering the person receiving therapy relaxation and calmness in the body, mind and spirit.
